Meet & Greet with Youichi of Hitachino Nest - NOON - PAYG

On Saturday, April 8 we will have the honor of welcoming Youichi Kiuchi of Kiuchi Brewery, makers of the stellar range of Hitachino Nest beer.  Youichi is flying from Japan, stopping to visit with us in Philadelphia, then proceeding on to DC to join our friends at Sierra Nevada for a special announcement.  While Youichi is in Philly, he'd like to eat a cheesesteak... come visit and tell him about your favorite. Or bring him one. Either way, we're drinking his great beer.

Hitachino Nest Dai-Dai Indigenous Pale Ale

IPA brewed with Japanese wild breed mandarin "Fukure Mikan". Refreshing flavor of this mandarin complements well with citrusy hop. The perfect balance act of hop bitterness and Umami taste.

Hitachino Nest Saison de Japon with Koji mold + Yuzu

Saison du Japon is brewed with a local wheat and koji (malted rice) which is a vital ingredient to create Sake. This beer has a uniquely sweet flavor of rice koji and a natural acidity caused by the fermentation. Water, barley malt (Lager, Munich), wheat malt, rice koji, Yuzu juice, hops (Perle, Kent Golding, Pacifica, Hallertau), Ale yeast.

Hitachino Nest Anbai (Plum Wheat Ale w/salt)

Based on the high alcohol version (7%) of the siganture beer Hitachino Nest White Ale, infused with locally grown green sour plum (ume), and finished up with a pinch of Japanese sea salt (moshio). The balance of sourness, bitterness, comes from the plum and subtle saltiness, great umami taste of the sea salt is “Ii Anbai - just right!”

Hitachino Nest Red Rice Ale

This Red Rice Ale was brewed with special red rice which had been cultured in ancient times in Japan. Please enjoy the complex taste and beautiful natural color. The ale has complex Sake like flavours with a hint of strawberry in the nose and palate.

Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout

Caramel, roasted, black and chocolate malts provide an explosion of coffee like flavors. The strong espresso character comes from the addition of espresso beans to the boil. Notes of vanilla, dark fruit , cocao and chocolate. The very unusual character of Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout stems from the fact that Kiuchi Brewery is using the recipe of a Russian Imperial Stout as base. Pitch black color, big brown head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted bitterness, black currants, dark fruits.
