March 9, 2022 is our 25th anniversary. To celebrate, we are pouring a knockout draft list featuring a variety of our exclusive 20th and 25th Anniversary collaborations and rarities. Today is also the public debut of Monk’s Café 25th Anniversary Collaboration with Russian River, both on draft and in bottles. Join us from 11:30am until Midnight, bring presents!
Monk’s Café 25th Anniversary Collaboration with Russian River (CA) Tom flew to CA in June of 2021 to brew with Vinnie on the 5 BBL Windsor brew system. After primary fermentation, the beer was transferred to Hogshead oak barrels that had just been emptied of Sonambic – Vinnie’s spontaneously fermented homage to the Lambics brewed in Belgium. Tom flew back to California in December to assist in the blending of the beer we brewed in June. We used some of the Sonambic that was emptied from those Hogshead barrels. Blonde sour ale with notes of peach and pear. Soft, pillowy carbonation. 6%
Lost Abbey Devotion (CA) Originally brewed for Monk’s 10th Anniversary; it is now a year-round beer for them. This was inspired by Westvleteren Blonde ale, with its sessionable alcohol level and prominent hops . 6.25%abv
Lost Abbey 24 Steps – 2017 (CA) A special blond sour ale blended by Tom and Tomme to celebrate Monk’s 20th Anniversary. We are super proud of this blend. Clean, dry finish on this oak driven blonde ale. 6%abv
Oxbow Le Parrain (The Godfather) (Maine) Cuvee of smoked, spontaneous & blonde brews. The barrels were selected by the Monk’s family on a visit to Maine back in 2017. Blended to celebrate Monk’s 20th Anniversary. 6.5% abv
Russian River Blind Pig IPA (CA) Perhaps my favorite West Coast IPA. Solid hop aromas and finish backed up by the perfect balance of malt. 6.1%abv
Russian River Damnation (CA) This is the new and improved version of the original, Duvel inspired, Damnation. Less banana, more apple/pear notes. More yeast-driven spiciness. Much drier than the original. 7.5%abv
Russian River Pliny the Elder (CA) Double IPA with copious amounts of Amarillo, Centennial, CTZ & Simcoe Hops. More hops balanced by bigger malt. Aromas of citrus & pine dominate. Finishes pleasantly dry. 8%abv
Westmalle Dubbel (Belgium) A dark, red-brown beer with notes of caramel, malt and fruity esters followed by a long, dry finish. Rich and complex. A rarity on draft. 7%abv
New Belgium Falling Monk (CO) Another of our 20th Anniversary beers, made in collaboration with our good friend Chris Black (formerly of Denver’s Falling Rock) and the wood cellar crew at NBB. Flemish sour red-style, very dry, deep wood, no acetic acid.
Lost Abbey 24 Steps – 2018 (CA) A special blond sour collaboration Ale blended by Tomme & Tom to celebrate Monk's 21st Anniversary. Monk's had finally reached the legal to drink! Blonde ale aged in a huge oak foeder, blended with select barrels that held blonde alePeach aroma & notes of peach in the flavor. This vintage has more of the barnyard funk from the brett than our ‘17 version. Super dry finish. 6%abv
Firestone Walker PNC Batch 2 (CA) David Walker was kind enough to let our PNC band of miscreants invade his brewery to make this one a second time. Massive imperial stout, which had a bit of buckwheat in the mash, aged in fresh-from-the-distillery tequila barrels. More tequila presence in this batch. 13.3%abv
